Prevention Is Better Than Cure

Women’s Empowerment Centre, Afghanistan

The students from the first Women’s Empowerment Centre (WEC) were eagerly asking us if we could take them to the second WEC in the east, so they could do some Transformational Community Development (TCD) role-playing skits and compete in volleyball and football against other students. This finally happened when we took about 20 students from the WEC I to WEC II.

The students started role-playing along with Dr. Rahim’s story Prevention Is Better Than Cure.  Next, they engaged in the River Crossing exercise which contrasts the difference between relief and development. Lastly, a Coronavirus Prevention lesson was taught by the local TCDhealth director.

About 150 local people attended this event.  We also asked the students from WEC II to learn and memorise the story Prevention Is Better Than Cure so they can act it out in their village as well as other  villages.
