Profiting from Improved Work Ethic

Harowayo Village, Ethiopia

In Harowayo Village, the Transformational Community Development (TCD) Agriculture Group members have been working hard to change their life. During the rainy season, they were producing several kinds of vegetables. The group members have now opened a cooperative bank account to save money at the bank. They have 53,000 birr (about $1,800) and they are contributing 12,000 birr (nearly $420) for the borehole project in Harowayo Village.

Most of the villagers have been following the Agriculture Group’s experience and decided to establish their own groups, asking for land from the government. They are also requesting training from GHNI-Ethiopia, so the TCD workers are preparing to give this training to the villagers. The village elders were excited by the progress of the previous Agriculture Group and the newly established groups. The improved work ethic has grown throughout the village.
