Prospering at Home

Harowayo Village, Ethiopia

Kegela and Dembi, friends living in Harowayo Village, are both married, with three and four children respectively. They both were moving place to place to look for pasture for their cattle. Life was very difficult for them. Sometimes they would not see their families for up to six months while they stayed with their cows.

One day when they returned home, they found the Transformational Community Development (TCD) workers in their village and had discussions with them. They came to understand about TCD and decided to stay at home to take the training. After they finished the training, they joined established groups and started farming and producing different vegetables. They can also pasture their cattle around their homes. Now they are very happy staying home with their families.
