Protocols and Provisions in Jatapara

Jatapara Village, India

Due to lockdown, our activity has been limited. We, along with the youth, banned the sale of liquor in the village. However, sellers revolted but in the end, agreed that they were breaking the rules of the lockdown.

Villagers did not have masks. So the mukhiya (Mukhi, a title for the head of the community in parts of India) of the panchayat (Panchayat raj is a political system)  distributed masks among the people and asked the villagers to use them. In the measure to fight against COVID-19, we gave masks, sanitiser, and hand wash in every ward and to the Anganwadi worker and people were informed regarding the use of it and how frequently it should be used.

The villagers realise that good hygiene practices can protect them. Sanitizer has been sprayed in one village and plans are being made to spray it in other villages as well.

Thank you,
