School and Water Projects Move Forward

Attakassikro and Effaoho, Côte d’Ivoire

Teti, our Transformational Community Development (TCD) worker in Côte d'Ivoire, did a great amount of work within the last quarter, working projects in our Ivorian community fields of Attakassikro and Effaoho.

Work on the Effaoho primary school is still in progress, but classes there have already started, and we hired a new teacher with the help of our TCD worker and the Education Committee.  The community members are very glad that their children can now have a Western-style education within their community, and that the students are no longer taking risky trips to schools in other villages.

The school project in Attakassikro also kicked off within the last quarter.  Our TCD worker reported that a makeshift tent was constructed to hold classes, and that the government responded to a request made by the Education Committee and gave the school stationeries to aid learning.

The first steps to provide the people of Attakassikro with potable water were taken during the quarter, and water samples have been collected and taken to the lab for testing.

The plan is to complete the school building projects in both Effaoho and Attakassikro communities within the next few months, and also to make progress in the provision of safe drinking water for Attakassikro locals.

TCD Update

  • Water - Collected samples for testing in Attakassikro.
  • Income Generation - Made progress in building the Women Empowerment Centre in Effaoho.
  • Education - Constructing school buildings in Effaoho and Attakassikro.  Classes have started in both communities.
  • Wellness - Ventilated Improvecd Pit (VIP) latrines in Effaoho are in use.

Thank you!
