Seeds Received Yield Bountiful Crops

Women’s Empowerment Centre--East, Afghanistan

Hajira is a 35-year-old housewife with five children, and she is a hard worker. She wakes up early every morning to cook food, bake bread, and take care of the children and the animals.

Hajira also helps her husband outside the home in the field. This year, they received several kinds of vegetable seeds that we passed out to help villagers during our coronavirus response. When we visited recently, Hajira was so happy about their crops.  We saw that they planted carrots, onions, turnips, and other vegetables.  She doesn’t need to buy these vegetables this year because she already has enough food from what they have grown!

Hajira and her family are so grateful for GHNI.

TCD Update

  • Food - In this location, we have people that benefited from our corona response that provided vegetable seeds. They now have nutritious carrots, onions, and turnips!

  • Education - The WEC East is going well. The women are coming daily to learn Birth Life Saving Skills (BLiSS). The students also come to learn English.

  • Wellness - We had handwashing with soap training for all the participants at the WEC East. About 90 people attended this practical training.

Thank you!
