Self-Sustaining Measures

Jatapara Village, India

This month, we taught students the value of education, one of the five focusses of Transformational Community Development (TCD). Before, students only studied in school, and after school they would usually just play. At the training, the importance of self study after school was emphasised.  Now the students concentrate on studies after school, as well as play.

Villagers are using water tanks constructed by the government, yet the villagers are contributing funds and labor for the upkeep.  The abundant supply of clean, potable water contributes to the health of the villagers of Jatapara.

People had planted mango trees last year and they made pickles out of them. They were able to sell them and provide food for their families, as well.

Thank you,
