Kibera Slum, Kenya
The Kibera slum in Kenya is a vast slum with many different tribes inhabiting the area. It’s an urban slum with over 30,000 households. It highlights a poverty where everybody survives on less than a dollar a day. Despite many ongoing challenges, we have been able to impact the lives of the Halakhu Women’s Group.
Abadaso lives in the Kibera slum, and she is part of the Halakhu Women’s Group. After attending the weekly coaching programme, she has established a small business along the roadside. She sells goods like ginger powder, perfumes, varieties of tea, coffee, berries and other things. Her roadside stand sells the products to customers as they pass along the street. Through this venture, she is trying her best to provide for the needs of her family.
She is grateful to GHNI for the practical coaching and for the loan that was provided through the Halakhu Women’s Group initiative.
Thank you!
