Spreading Knowledge, House-to-House

*DG Village, Nepal

In DG Village, we have our new strategy to visit house to house and share about Transformational Community Development (TCD). We encourage them to send their children to school. We talk about how to prevent communicable diseases, sanitation, good health, and how to use their own resources and raise income. I teach a women’s group every day. They are slowly learning how to read and write. This has worked, as this is a rainy season and villagers are busy at work. Now the people of DG Village are improving from before.

I’d like to share a success story of this month. I visited ten houses. Going house to house, I taught TCD lessons. I was welcomed into their homes. When I start teaching, they listened carefully. I taught them about sanitation, income generation, and the importance of education. In the beginning, they used to say we are backward people, poor people, we don't need to read and write. What can we do if we read? We won't come to the class. I assured them that it will be so helpful in their daily life. After I started teaching them, they were very happy and learning well. Now they proudly say, “TCD is very helpful for us. We learned many things.” They invite me into their homes, again and again.
