Strengthening Community Bonds Through Education

*DG Village, Nepal

Community bonds continue to strengthen as women share their experiences at a meeting of the Women’s Group in DG Village, Nepal. Many people who were not interested in mingling with each other are now being open with one another and setting and amazing example in the community.

One such person is Roshika.Roshika is a 16-year-old girl with two sisters and one brother. Roshika got married 3 years ago when she was just 13 years old.

After getting married, Roshika could not get along with her mother-in-law and her husband, so she returned to her mum's home because she was treated badly in her husband's home.

Roshika had to face many issues as a young wife, and after she left her husband, Roshika's family continued to face many other problems. Then Roshika and her mother started coming to Transformational Community Development (TCD) classes where they learnt about the effects of child marriages, as well as the importance of education and proper healthcare.

These classes were helpful and encouraged them to teach Roshika’s sisters the importance of studying properly and getting a good education.

Roshika and her family are now coming to TCD classes, regularly, and are seeing positive progress in their daily lives.
