Students Can’t Wait

*Sheldon Village, Afghanistan

Families of Sheldon Village remain hopeful as they look forward to the completion of their new school building. With no school currently in their village, students have to walk four hours per day to attend another school.

GHNI representatives are still working through some disputes with the construction company, and students are still hoping doors may open for the new school year in spring. Youth in Sheldon Village are playing football and volleyball in front of their new school. Teachers hope that they will be able to make income for themselves by providing winter courses later this year.

Meanwhile, many TCD lessons are been taught to the people of Sheldon. Inspired by the school project, they have taken ownership of their problems. After providing a water project in Sheldon Village, the local people benefited and learned skills about how to save and bring water to the village. They are hoping that they can bring changes to their foods. For next summer, we are making a plan for wellness training.
