Teaching Proper Self-Care

DG Village*, Nepal

It is not easy to work in the field due to the coronavirus, but we are continuing to help villagers, especially with health activities this quarter. We’ve focussed on prevention methods like the use of masks, hand washing with soap and water, keeping social distances in public places, and the use of sanitiser.

Additionally, I have taught children of the village who are staying at home all the time. Right now our lessons focus on the alphabet. Then I have taught women and children about personal health care, like proper hygiene.

Our goal is to teach self-sustainability to the leaders and the community people. I always teach and encourage people to be engaged in any kind of income generation, which could be easier and profitable to them. Some of them have already started micro businesses or farming. We organised a daylong seminar about self-sustainable practices. Dexa**, a local villager, is one good result for the TCD movement this quarter. She was very active in our lessons and has now been able to raise goats who are doing well.

TCD Update

  • Water -  We are instructing people about clean water sources.
  • Food - Continuing to discuss proper nutrition with the community.
  • Income Generation – Encouraged people to open micro shops (small business/micro-enterprise), animal husbandry, poultry and farming.
  • Education - We are focussing on children’s education, women’s education, and wellness training.
  • Wellness - We are stressing the importance of proper hygiene.

Thank you!
