Tending the Garden of Good Intentions

Garden of Peace & Hope, Afghanistan

Recently, the Garden of Peace and Hope looked beautiful and still green with autumnal flowers. We had no exhibition this month because of security concerns related to the presidential election. The gardener and I worked on a section near one of the pools where the ground sank. We worked for a week to rebuild it.

There is a pool on the west side that has been broken and it didn’t hold water. We rebuilt the pool, even better than before. We used concrete around the pool to stabilize it. In addition, we used a single slab of marble to add strength and beauty to the pool area.

We have had water problems in the Garden of Peace and Hope for a few days, but in the end we solved it. The gallery wanted us to dig a well for the Garden. I declined because if we have two deep wells, they will negatively affect other wells around the Garden. They agreed!

Thank you!
