Training Leaders Accelerates Expansion

CP Village*, Nepal

The most important thing that has been done this quarter is the training of the leaders of the community to be leaders in the Transformational Community Development (TCD) movement. It is a movement which is bringing holistic transformation to the community. In order to make TCD effective in the community, first of all, the Community Leader should take this movement seriously and take responsibility. Therefore, I organised and completed the TCD training with leaders of the community who are working in different areas. This is how TCD is being expanded in many villages rapidly.

This month, we have also been able to partner with the local government and health centre. The local government organised a one-day free medical camp. Our TCD team took responsibility for advertising and field management work. We called the villagers to the camp and checked up on their health. Many villagers were not ready to go to the camp to check up on their health, but we convinced them of the importance of their health, and then all of them went to the camp. The villagers benefited from it when they got medicine, vitamins and normal minor operations.

TCD Update

  • Water ― Because of TCD, villagers knew the importance of safe drinking water. The villagers want to use safe water for cooking and drinking. Water tanks have been cleaned and they are now using pure drinking water. We completed bringing safe water in partnership with community members.
  • Food ― The villagers have good education about a balanced diet, nutritious, fresh and healthy food. They have started growing healthy food in their own farms. They are practising eating healthy food in their families now.
  • Income Generation ― Some villagers started micro-shops, animal husbandry, chicken farms, etc., which have been a model for other families. This has been replicated.
  • Education ― More children are going to school. There is an Education Committee formed. They have promised a good quality education in their community.
  • Wellness ― The villagers have started using the toilet. They understand about sanitation and take care about their health. Everyone is aware about hand washing, using masks and keeping distance with each other.

Thank you!
