Tree Cuttings Distributed by the Thousands

*Valley of Ali, Afghanistan

We visited the Poplar tree project in the Valley of Ali in April. It was the time we planned to be there. Usually, this is the time of year for planting trees. Our staff already cut and distributed 2,500 cuttings there, because many farmers were instructed to get Poplar cuttings.

Before our hybrid Poplar project, the local people didn't know about this kind of tree. In just a few years they would realize how fast it grew. Now every spring local people are curiously asking for Poplar cuttings, because they have saw the result of their neighbor’s Poplar plantings. This year, we have distributed 11,000 cuttings to Yakawlang farmers and they are very grateful for them.

Thank you,

The GHNI-Afghanistan Team
