Villagers Profit from Income Generation Lessons

Chainpur Village, Nepal

This month, we helped one family build a poultry farm. The Transformational Community Development (TCD) Income Generation training inspired them to start poultry farming in a rented building. They didn’t have enough money to build a chicken enclosure, but TCD members helped with labour and they were able to build one. Now the family can keep chickens on their own property from the beginning of next month.

Another Income Generation story is the one of sister Shubhu* and her family. This year, she got married to Dhyansh*. They used to work in the Chitwan District. Because of COVID-19, they had to come back to the village. In the village they had no income sources, only a place to live. They got a chance to learn TCD teachings about Income Generation, Food, Water, Education, and Wellness. They started a vegetable garden and other food products, as well as animal husbandry, keeping a goat and four calves in hopes to increase their income.

Another important thing we've done is go to the government office with a proposal for the Agriculture Programme for the TCD Income Generation team and the village. I have applied for the agricultural government grant programme and agricultural irrigation programme. We hope that they will approve our proposal. Most of the people are farmers and they have experience doing agricultural work.

Thank you!
