Villagers Welcome Transformation Training

*DG Village, Nepal

Kabita is now 19 years old, married, and she already has a child. She didn't get a chance to go to school. As she is so young, Kabita didn’t know how to care and protect her child from various diseases. She left her child uncovered, dressing her son in thin clothes during the winter season. Her son suffered from pneumonia. She was so worried about her son, and she became sad.

Paying her a visit, Kabita welcomed me into her home. I taught her about first aid and how to treat the child. She listened and did what I told her. It helped and the child became well. I taught her about types of vaccines for BCG, DPT, polio etc. She was happy and said our Transformational Community Development (TCD) education is very important.

Villagers are very happy because they can see the difference in the community after villagers learned many things about community development, reconciliation, and children’s education. Partnership with the school has opened the door to the children who play in the street. Now many children have joined the education center and go to school.

This past month, we covered the following lessons in our Transformational Community Development (TCD) class for the children:

  • Vaccines for children
  • Avoiding diseases
  • First aid
  • How to treat dog bites
  • How to treat snake bites
  • Personal health care
  • Washing clothes
