Why do you want to hike?
Posted May 8, 2018
We asked our "mystery couple" why they wanted to hike for GHNI and share it with you through social media and a blog.....
"Growing up with families who took us to different state parks to hike and camp cultivated in us an appreciation for the outdoors and a love for nature. As a couple, we have been dreaming about thru-hiking the Appalachian Trail for several years now. While I officially get to put my record of not showering for six days to the test, My husband is excited to up his facial hair game from Duck Dynasty to full Chewbacca.
I have a poster in my classroom that reminds me daily to be a part of something larger than myself; Jane Goodall’s words, “what you do makes a difference, and you have to decide what kind of difference you want to make” in essence is why we decided to hike the Appalachian Trail. If what we do truly matters, then we want to be sold out for our cause. We believe in the sustainable development strategies GHNI implements. Inspired by GHNI’s commitment to invest in the “hidden and hurting” and given the need for villages to be fully-funded, we are excited to hike to raise money for these communities. Join us for a weekend hike or follow us at #hikeforhope on Instagram and at www.hike4hope.rocks. We are excited to share this adventure with you."
