Ahumbe is made up of nine cluster villages, with approximately 10,000 in population. The people of Ahumbe are good farmers and generate their income from the sale of farm produce and livestock. Clean, safe water is scarce in this area. Hand dug wells supply water during the rainy season, however, in the dry season people have to travel 4km to wells they have dug near the dried upstream. There is much sickness in the area and the government-owned health clinic does not have regular hours. There are 3 primary schools and one secondary school in Ahumbe.
Transformational Community Development (TCD) This process helps villagers find their own solutions to the five areas keeping them in extreme poverty - clean, accessible water; a renewable, nutritious food source; education for children; wellness habits and regional health concerns; and income generation for families.
