Active Women Empower a Community
October 7, 2022
Gem Village is improving their living standards and has stopped depending on other people for their basic needs. Villagers were taught the importance of an education for their children. Currently, education about farming has improved. After villagers were coached and monitored, their farming improved.
GHNI saw that, in most cases, women were more active in the community than men. Through Transformational Community Development (TCD), they offered microloans to empower active members in the communities who were willing to work to change the way of life in their families. A group was formed and given a loan, where they have to keep their group active by saving each time they meet. This has helped the group a lot in regards to saving. They also give loans to a few members, and the loanees return them with a small interest. Through the guidance of GNHI, the group has saved to the extent that it can offer loans to all group members. This enabled the group to start its own business while still continuing to save.
Mama Ezekiel is one of the empowered women in the group who is grateful to GNHI for identifying and empowering the women in their society who are the breadwinners in their families.
Thank you!
