Stringing Beads into Earrings and Necklaces

Koubah Bingo, Burkina Faso

It is true that the fight against COVID-19 is far from over and the effects on rural communities cannot be understated. It is also important not to focus only on the pandemic, leaving out other aspects of transformation to mere chance.

Hand Washing for Safe Hygiene

Koubah Bingo, Burkina Faso

In April, our Transformational Community Development (TCD) workers, Fatima and Mainasara, took some time out to teach on COVID-19 prevention tips. Even though there is a ban on large public gatherings, Mainasara and Fatima were able to reach a few people and emphasise hand washing as well as promoting the use of face masks.

Thank you!

The first quarter of the year went by so quickly for Fatima and Mainasara.  At the beginning of the year, soon after the holidays, attention was prioritised on the milling machine project which the Transformational Community Development (TCD) workers supervised to ensure that the refund of the loan begins.

Using New Dish Racks

Koubah Bingo, Burkina Faso

Our Transformational Community Development (TCD) workers, Fatima and Mainasara, hit the ground running this new year with TCD work. Mainasara engaged some women of the Koubah community to discuss home-keeping from a man’s perspective and the expectation of men as family heads. He also reiterated the need to keep using the dish racks that were constructed.

Achieving the Goal

Mainasara and Fatima had quite a lot of work done within the last quarter. The milling machine has been of immense benefit to the locals since it was set up and the accounts put together. Mainasara and the Income Generation Committee keep ensuring that the accounting is done properly, and that every participant of this Income Generation programme is issued a membership card that records how much is paid each time they use the milling machine.

Preschoolers Begin Their Education

Koubah Bingo, Burkina Faso

Fatima, our Transformational Community Development (TCD) worker, engaged children between the ages of 3 and 4 with some literacy activities in Koubah Bingo in November. For most of the children, this was the first time they experienced formal education, which is a sure way to encourage transformation.

Harvest Time

Koubah Bingo, Burkina Faso

The Koubah community in Burkina Faso is predominantly a farming community. The third quarter of the year is the peak of the farming season, so community dwellers are very busy. However, Transformational Community Development (TCD) workers Mainasara and his wife Fatima find opportunities to engage residents in TCD activities.
