Emerging Entrepreneurs

Kharibari Village, India

For the last several months, I had tried to motivate villagers of Kharibari Village to start their own business. However, they were not very keen on starting a business, as it involves risks; instead, they had been relying on the most convenient source of income, which is working as a daily wage earner. But since a job may not be available every day, I hoped to help them start a small side business in order to earn good income.

Awareness Programmes Continue

Dhoker Jhara Village, India

This quarter we did lots of awareness programmes by meeting with villagers individually as well as in groups. Our focus was to bring all people up to the same page so that they might be able to see the root cause of their problems and take steps to overcome them.

TCD Centre Construction Resumes

Binodpur Village, India

Greetings from Binodpur. Thanks for being an important part of Binodpur’s development. Without your help we would not be able to do what we do.

We are happy to inform you that our government has declared phase two of easing restrictions, which means that things are beginning to go back to normal. We hope that next month school, college and train services will restart.

On Boars and Orchards

Jatapara Village, India

In the month of June, villagers here cultivate corn. By the time the crops are ready to harvest, wild boar destroy these crops, causing huge losses for the farmers. So this year we suggested that farmers try cultivating pigeon peas (arhar/toor) instead of corn. As the boars do not destroy these crops, there is a reduced risk of loss.

Rebuilding Proves to Be a Struggle

Binodpur Village, India

We were already suffering from the COVID-19 pandemic and lockdown, and now this super cyclone has hit us badly. We have distributed groceries among the people. I am personally visiting all the 40 families door to door and listening to their problems. We are looking for some seed money in order to start small businesses to sustain those families.
