Like many projects, the Hybrid Poplar Farm addresses many elements of TCD. The main purpose is to introduce a fast growing hybrid that grows to full height in just 7-10 years. Which accomplishing this, it can also be used to generate income. There are a number of environment benefits such as preventing deforestation, soil erosion and provides shade for both animals and people.

The Poplar demonstration acre is located just outside Yawkalang along the main road leading out of town. This highly visible location provides great free advertising and often people stop in to inquire about the trees. In addition to this, we have a demonstration FAITH (Food Always in the Home) Garden. We show existing and new participants in the program how to lay out a kitchen garden.

The Community Development Center strives to bring Transformation to a community by bringing the residents together and facilitate a knowledge transfer. This is accomplished by provide education to different vulnerable segments of the population. For example, BLLiSS (Birth Labor and LIfe Saving Skills) are taught to all who are interested. Both language learning as well as adult literacy are emphasized.

TCD Centers have have a huge impact on communities in the Bamyan region. Participants have learned valuable life skills that not only impact them, but their entire family. By learning BLLiSS, as well as Wellness lesson, families are healthier and stronger. Youth have been mobilized and strengthen. All of these activities have profoundly impacted the self-worth of the participants.

The Garden of Peace and Hope was established through a series of events that could be described as nothing less than supernatural. The President's office invited GHNI to create this garden right next to the National Gallery of Afghanistan. The Garden of Peace and Hope was laid out using culturally sensitive and relevant forms and motifs, as well as Midevil architecture to recreate a Persian Paradise (garden). it is our desire that people will find Peace and Hope in this haven.

Currently the Garden of Peace and Hope is on hiatus. We are waiting until the situation is stabilizes to resume activity.

Afghanistan has had a long painful history of conflict and regime changes. The recent takeover has cause many disruptions and difficulties. The people of Afghanistan have suffered so much. Most of the population have not known a single day of peace and safety in their entire life. Confusion, anxiety and unemployment have resulted from charge of power. While some people have fled, many of them the main breadwinner, it has only compounded the difficulties for the families they left behind.

GHNI wants to stand with the people of Afghanistan during their hour of greatest need. We have helped families in at least 10 locations, focusing on the Hidden and Hurting. We have provided staples, such as wheat, rice, cooking oil, sugar and soap. Many of these family have six or more children. During the winter have provided coal and wood to vulnerable families during the bitter Afghan winters. This is only possible through our generous donors
